Faye embarks on an adventure within the realm of dreams to locate her fairy husband and save her hometown, which has fallen under a powerful sleeping spell. Players must solve puzzles and gather clues to uncover the whereabouts of Faye's husband.

Dream Chronicles offers seek-and-find gameplay, with players solving puzzles to advance through the game's chapters. Each scene features hidden objects and logic puzzles, and collected items can be used to solve puzzles within the same location. The game also introduces the concept of Dream Pieces, which contribute to the player's score and provide insights into the Fairy Realm's important fairies. At the end of the game, players earn a high score based on completion time and Dream Pieces found.

Development:

The game's narrative revolves around Faye's quest to rescue her husband, who has been abducted by the Fairy Queen of Dreams, Lilith. Along the way, Faye uncovers family secrets about her husband's fairy heritage and Lilith's nefarious plans. Faye's journey takes her through various challenges and encounters with magical obstacles created by Lilith. The game combines elements of adventure and hidden object genres, making it one of the early casual games to blend these gameplay styles.

Before Dream Chronicles, KatGames had developed several games without much success due to limited budgets. Dream Chronicles was a significant project for the studio, and they sought a publisher who could provide creative input and support. KatGames entered into an agreement with PlayFirst to publish Dream Chronicles in 2007, and the game marked a unique addition to the casual games industry, offering an iterative and flexible approach to storytelling and gameplay design.
